L’Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec (“l’Alliance”, “We”, “Us”, or “Our”) values your privacy. You, the User of our mobile application, Go QuébecOriginal, available on the Apple Store (the “App”) or the individual who receives content through our App is referred herein as “You” or “Your”. In this Privacy Policy, We describe how We collect, use, and share information that We obtain about Youand the services available through the App (the App and the services available through them are collectively referred to as the “Services”).

By using any of Our Services, You agree and consent that Your information, including personal information, will be handled as described in this Privacy Policy. Your use of Our Services, and any dispute over privacy, is subject to this Privacy Policy and Our Terms of Use.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information about You directly from You and automatically through Your use of Our Services. We may combine information collected from or about You from the following various sources.

Information You Provide to Us Directly. We may collect information about You directly from You. For example, if You register to use Our Services, We will collect Your name, email address, phone number, physical address, as well as any other information you send us when filling out the registering form available on our App. We will also collect any other information that You provide to Us through Our Services if You Contact Us through Our Site. This information is kept for as long as You use Our services and have an account on our App. Some information might also be kept longer when required by law.

Information We Collect Automatically. We may automatically collect information about You through Your use of Our Services, including, without limitation: page views; IP address; domain name; browser type; access dates and times; referring URLs; and device IDs. We may combine this information with other information that We have collected about You, including, where applicable, Your user name, name, and other personal information. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

Our primary purpose in collecting the foregoing information is to provide You with an enhanced experience when using our Services.

We may also use Your information, including Your personal information and UserContent, for the following purposes:

Providing and Improving Our Services. To provide and maintain Our Services; to improve Our Services; to develop new features, products, or services; to perform technical operations, such as updating software; and for other customer service and support purposes.

To communicate with You about Your account and use of Our Services, including to send You updates about Our Services; to respond to Your inquiries and complaints; to provide You with news and newsletters, special offers and promotions (if any and if You have accepted to receive communications from Us), and other information We think may interest You; and for other informational, marketing, or promotional purposes. Our communications with You may include communications via email.

Research and Analytics. To analyze how You interact with Our Services; to monitor and analyze usage and activity trends; and for other research, analytical, and statistical purposes, particularly in the field of tourism.

Protecting Rights and Interests. To protect the safety, rights, property, or security of l’Alliance, the Services, any third party, or the general public; to detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues; to prevent or stop activity which We, in our sole discretion, may consider to be, or to pose a risk of being, an illegal, unethical, or legally actionable activity; to use as evidence in litigation; and to enforce this Privacy Policy or Our Terms of Use.

Legal Compliance. To comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations, including as part of a judicial proceeding; to respond to a subpoena, warrant, court order, or other legal process; or as part of an investigation or request from law enforcement or a governmental authority.

Database. If you have given us your express consent to put your information, including personal information, in our Database, we will use such information as described in the section Database of this Privacy Policy.

HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

We may share Your information, including personal information and UserContent, as follows:

Affiliates. We may disclose Your information to current or future affiliates or subsidiaries for research, marketing, or other purposes consistent with this Privacy Policy.

Service Providers. We may disclose Your information to Our vendors, service providers, agents, distributors or retailers, or others who perform functions on Our behalf. 

Business Partners. We may disclose Your information to business partners, such as sponsors of conferences, including so that those partners may market to You directly.

DATABASE

In addition to the foregoing, if You give Us Your consent to add Your information to Our Database, You agree and acknowledge that:

  • Your information, including Your personal information, will be stored in a database accessible through the App and on the Web (the “Database”);
  • The Database will be a common database accessible by Us, some of Our business partners  (“Partners”) and some of Our representation agencies (“Agencies”);
  • Although the Database is web based, Our Partners and Agencies are located all around the world and, therefore, Your personal information can be processed by and shared with our Partners or Agencies around the world;

We execute agreements with each of Our Partners and Agencies with which we allow access to the Database, in which said Partner or Agency undertakes to take appropriate security measures to protect Your personal information in line with Our policies and all applicable country specific legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).

Your information, including personal information, contained in the Database will be used by Us, Our Partners and the Agencies for the following purposes:

  • Business meeting follow-ups;
  • Invitation to market activities (conferences, events, trainings, etc.), only if You have consented to receiving communications from the Alliance and our Partners and Agencies;

Our agreements stipulate that Our Partners and Agencies cannot use Your personal information for other purposes then the ones specifically described in this section.

Please note that once You leave Our App or are redirected to a third-party website or application, You are no longer governed by the present Privacy Policy or Our App’s Terms of Use. We are not responsible in any way of how your personal information is used by such third parties and we strongly recommend reviewing the terms of use and the privacy policy of such third-party websites and/or applications.

COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING MECHANISMS

We and Our service providers use cookies and other tracking mechanisms to track information about Your use of our Services. We or Our service providers may combine this information with other information, including personal information, We collect about You. We may use the following tracking mechanisms.

Cookies. Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that We transfer to Your computer’s hard drive through Your web browser for record-keeping purposes. We may use third-party analytics companies to evaluate use of Our Services. We or Our service providers use these tools to help Us understand use of, and to improve, Our Services, performance, and user experiences. Our Services may contain links to third-party websites, applications and services. Any access to and use of such linked services is not governed by this Privacy Policy, but instead is governed by the privacy policies of those third parties. STORAGE AND SECURITY

To protect Your personal information, We take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

The information We collect about you is stored on the servers of  Amazon Web Services and Zoho .

We have taken steps to protect the personal information We collect. We use standard, industry-wide, commercially reasonable security practices such as encryption, firewalls and SSLfor protection the information We collect. However, despite Our best efforts, no data security measures can fully guarantee security. You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to Your account credentials and devices by, among other things, signing off after using a shared computer, not logging in using public Wi-Fi service providers, choosing a strong password that nobody else knows or can easily guess, and keeping Your log-in and password private.

ACCESSING, MODIFYING, OR DELETING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

You may access, modify, or delete the personal information that You have provided to Us by emailing Us at [email protected] with what You would like updated. Please note that We may retain certain information about You as required by law or as permitted by law for legitimate business purposes. For example, if You request that we delete Your information but We believe that You have violated our Terms of Use, We may retain information about You in order to attempt to resolve the issue before deleting it.

YOUR COMMUNICATIONS CHOICES AND OPTING OUT

We, as well as our Agencies and Partners with access to the Database, may send periodic promotional or informational emails to You if you consented to receiving communications. You may opt out of such communications by following the opt-out instructions contained in such emails. Please note that it may take up to twenty (20) business days for Us to process opt-out requests. If You opt out of receiving emails about recommendations or other information We think may interest You, We may still email You about Your account or any Services You have requested or received from Us.

ACCESS TO PERSONAL INFORMATION 

You may request from Us any information about the personal information (if any) We retain about You and/or have disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes. Please submit Your request in writing to Us at the contact information provided below. In your request, please give Your name and provide a current postal address for Your response.

CHILDREN

Our Services are not targeted to any person under the age of eighteen (18), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from such persons. If we discover that a person under the age of eighteen (18) has provided us with personal information, we will delete such information from our systems. However, as indicated hereinabove, we are not responsible of any usage, by a person under the age of eighteen (18), of someone else’s account to access the Services. It is Your responsibility to protect Your user names and passwords to help prevent anyone from accessing or abusing Your accounts.

If You are under eighteen (18), or the age of majority in the jurisdiction in which you reside, you may only use our Services with the consent of your parent or legal guardian.
