Since summer 2020, the Alliance de l’industrie touristique du Québec has been working in collaboration with associations, thanks to the financial support of Canada Economic Development for Québec Regions, to help hundreds of businesses enhance their digital presence and that of the destination as a whole.

During the first phase of this operation, teams travelled throughout Québec to help businesses whose Google presence was more limited. At the end of this first phase, some 500 businesses will have gained the tools to improve their visibility.

The second phase of the operation will help over 500 other businesses become self-reliant for the management and optimization of their Google presence, thanks to two custom training programs aimed specifically at tourism sector businesses.

Free training programs, easy and accessible

Online training programs will be available at no charge to help interested businesses understand and master the basics of these tools, so they can better use them and properly update their Google tools. Two types of online training will be available for the people in charge of their businesses’ online presence. The greater the number of participants, the greater the benefits for each business and for the Québec destination as a whole.

1) Getting started with
Google my Business

This 90-minute online individual training allows everyone to follow it at their own rhythm, according to their availability. This a basic training for tourism sector businesses who are beginner level.

2) Optimize your Google
my Business listing

This complete online individual training will be available in fall 2021. This training target businesses that are in advanced level with their Google my Business listing.

How to prepare for the training

To make sure that tourism sector businesses can get the most from the training sessions, for the short and the long run, some factors will need to be taken into account in preparation for it. Participants must:

  • need to gain a significant amount of knowledge of Google My Business listings (beginner level training);
  • be able to access their business information (coordinates, services, menus, photos, etc.) and their Google listing;
  • be in a position to take charge of updating their business listing.

 

These training sessions are only the beginning: regular updating of the listing information is crucial to help optimize visibility and ensure that visitors are well informed.
